SparkPost came out of Message Systems' on-premise MTA business and carried genuine deliverability engineering into the cloud: automatic IP warmup, detailed engagement analytics and very high throughput. Since the MessageBird acquisition it has been progressively absorbed into Bird, self-serve access has narrowed, and pricing above small volume goes through sales. Existing users are well served; new ones should check what they can still sign up for.
