What Supabase is
Supabase is a hosted Postgres surrounded by services: GoTrue for auth, PostgREST for a generated REST API, a realtime change-feed server, S3-compatible storage and Deno edge functions. Access control is row-level security written in SQL, which is powerful and easy to get wrong. The stack is Apache-2.0 and runs under Docker Compose, though the self-hosted build trails the cloud one.
