# Postmark

> Transactional-only sender with the best-policed shared IP pool in the category.

Postmark has spent fifteen years optimising for one thing: transactional mail arriving fast and landing in the inbox. It enforces a strict separation between transactional and broadcast message streams, vets accounts before enabling sending, and removes customers whose practices threaten the pool. It costs several times what its competitors do and keeps forty-five days of searchable activity, which is the trade it asks you to make.

## Where it is compared

### [Email APIs](https://toolweight.com/compare/email-sending-apis)
Ranked **#1 of 13** on default weights.
| Field | Value | Confidence | Verified | Source | Note |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Time to first send | 240 min | Community-reported | - | - | Postmark reviews the use case before enabling sending to unverified recipients; usually hours, occasionally next business day. |
| Product scope | transactional-first | Inferred | - | - | Broadcast streams exist but are deliberately kept separate from transactional. |
| Inbound parsing | ● | Vendor-claimed | 2026-05-20 | https://postmarkapp.com/developer/user-guide/inbound | - |
| Event webhooks | delivered, opened, clicked, bounced, complained, unsubscribed, inbound | Vendor-claimed | 2026-05-20 | https://postmarkapp.com/developer/webhooks/webhooks-overview | - |
| Hosted templates | visual-editor | Inferred | - | - | Drag-and-drop builder plus a well-regarded set of open-source starter templates. |
| React Email / MJML | mjml, handlebars | Inferred | - | - | Templates use a Mustache-style syntax; MJML is documented as an authoring path. |
| Log retention | 64800 min | Community-reported | - | - | 45-day activity retention is Postmark's long-standing default and the best here. |
| Throughput ceiling | - | Unknown | - | - | No published figure. |
| Multi-domain sending | ● | Inferred | - | - | - |
| Data residency | us | Inferred | - | - | US-hosted; no EU data region as of this pass. |
| Shared pool quality | 5 | Inferred | - | - | The most aggressively policed pool in the category, transactional-only, with customers removed for bad practice. |
| IP warmup | ● | Inferred | - | - | Managed by Postmark, but they require sustained volume before selling you an IP. |
| DKIM/DMARC friction | 2 | Inferred | - | - | Clear records and verification, plus a separate custom return-path CNAME. |
| BIMI | ● | Inferred | - | - | - |
| Suppression list | ● | Inferred | - | - | Per-message-stream suppressions, readable over the API. |
| Bounce handling | ● | Inferred | - | - | - |
| Price / 1k emails | $1.5 /1k | Vendor-claimed | 2026-05-20 | https://postmarkapp.com/pricing | $15/mo for 10,000 emails; the rate falls at higher tiers. |
| Free tier | 100 emails/mo | Inferred | - | - | Developer allowance for testing, not a production plan. |
| Dedicated IP | $50 /mo | Inferred | - | - | Approximate, and gated behind roughly 300,000 messages/month of sustained volume. |
| Pricing model | volume-tiers | Inferred | - | - | - |
| MCP server | ◐ | Community-reported | - | - | No first-party server. A malicious third-party postmark-mcp npm package impersonated one in 2025, check the publisher. |
| llms.txt docs | - | Unknown | - | - | - |
| Funding | acquired | Community-reported | - | - | Wildbit, Postmark's parent, was acquired by ActiveCampaign in 2022. |
| Positioning | "Your emails, delivered." Sells discipline rather than features, and unusually, the claim matches the product. | Inferred | - | - | - |
| GA year | 2010 | Inferred | - | - | - |

**Verdict.** Still the deliverability benchmark, and the only vendor here whose pool quality is a deliberate business decision rather than a side effect. Expensive, opinionated, and worth it for mail that must arrive.
