Twilio SendGrid is the default answer inherited from a decade of tutorials, and it still has the broadest feature surface here, Handlebars templates, a design library, marketing campaigns, dedicated IPs, EU data residency. The cost is a shared pool large enough that other people's sending practices affect yours, and a free tier that attracts exactly the traffic you would rather not share an IP range with. Activity retention is three days unless you pay for more.
