What Browserbase is

Browserbase runs Chromium sessions you connect to over CDP, plus the surrounding machinery agents actually need: reusable contexts, an embeddable live view, extension loading and a download API. Stagehand, its open-source TypeScript SDK, layers model-driven act/extract calls over ordinary Playwright so you can drop back to selectors whenever the model gets it wrong. The infrastructure itself is closed and priced by the browser-hour, with residential proxy bandwidth billed separately.

Recent changes

  • 2025-06-24Browserbase raises a US$40M Series B

The largest round in the category to date, and the clearest signal that agent browser infrastructure is being funded as a platform rather than a feature. Reported terms; not vendor-confirmed here.

  • 2025-04-22Stagehand 2.0

Browserbase's SDK moves from an experiment to the default way people write agent browsing in TypeScript, mixing model-driven act/extract calls with ordinary Playwright in the same script.
