Changelog

January 2025

3 changes across the tools toolweight tracks. Newest first.

  1. Launch

    Block open-sources Goose

Block released Goose as an Apache-2.0 agent built around MCP from the start, with extensions implemented as MCP servers rather than a bespoke plugin API. It was among the first harnesses to treat the protocol as its entire tool surface.

  2. Launch

    Convex ships supported self-hosting

Convex published a documented self-hosting path for the open-source convex-backend, moving it from a repository you could compile to a deployment target the company supports. It bounds vendor risk without changing the exit-cost picture: a self-hosted Convex is still Convex.

  3. Change

Sinch continues folding MessageMedia into the parent platform

Sinch has been progressively consolidating MessageMedia's Australian business onto Sinch platform branding and account management since the 2021 acquisition. The practical effect for buyers is that the two products increasingly quote from the same commercial motion, and neither publishes an Australian rate card. The date is approximate — this has been a gradual migration rather than a single announcement.
