toolweight collects as little as it can get away with, because a comparison site has no business knowing much about you. This page says exactly what that means.
Reading toolweight needs no account
Every comparison, tool profile, markdown twin, JSON API response and MCP tool call is public and anonymous. No sign-in, no cookie wall, no tracking pixel. Weight profiles you set without an account live in the URL, so nothing about them reaches a server beyond the request itself.
What an account stores
Signing in creates one row holding your email address, your display name if the provider supplied one, and whether you are on the Pro plan. Alongside it sit the weight profiles you save (a name, a category and a set of numbers) and the alerts you create (a tool, a category and the last score seen).That is the complete list. There is no profile enrichment, no behavioural record, no device fingerprint and no advertising identifier.
Who processes it
Sign-in is handled by AussieAuth, a self-hosted Better Auth deployment run by the same maintainer, which holds your credentials and issues the session token. Account data is stored in Convex. Payments, if you subscribe on the web, are processed by Stripe, and on iOS by Apple through RevenueCat; card numbers never reach toolweight. Alert emails are delivered by Resend.None of these are sent data for their own purposes, and toolweight sells nothing to anyone.
Analytics
The website uses Vercel Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of the visitor. It reports aggregates: which pages are read, roughly where from. It cannot identify you, and it is not linked to an account.
Email
Your address is used to sign you in and to send the score alerts you asked for. There is no newsletter and no marketing mail. Delete an alert and the mail stops.
Deleting everything
The account page has a control that removes your saved profiles, your alerts and your account row. It takes effect immediately and is not recoverable. The iOS app has the same control under Settings.
Children
toolweight is a tool for people choosing software infrastructure. It is not directed at children and collects nothing knowingly from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the change lands in the public repository with the commit that makes it, so the history is auditable rather than announced.
